Sublimated Jerseys

What is it?

Sublimation is a magical process where faeries come down from the sky and sprinkle your ark onto a specific material and then blast it with thier magical wands to make sure it stays there! Or, to be technical and less fun; Sublimation is the process of transferring sublimation ink to a polyester-based material. The image is printed on paper then heat pressed on to the material. In a dye-sublimation process the printing dye is heated up until it turns into a gas, at which point it diffuses into the fibres and solidifies imbedding the image into the fabric.

The benefits of sublimation:

* Design options are virtually unlimited, from simple designs and colors to photographic images and unlimited colors.
* Logos, names, numbers and sponsors can all be included in the design in full color, eliminating the additional costs of screen-printing, embroidery and twill.
* Additional prints can be added to the fabric at a later time, i.e. names or numbers on a jersey

What makes ours the best?

We've tested bolts of materials and hunted for the perfect printer to bring together, we what feel, is the best sublimated jersey specifically for roller derby. Roller derby, as we all know, is a full contact sport full of Velcro. The fabric we've choosen is antibactial, wicking and hold up extremely well to Velcro. Many other sublimators go with the less expensive fabrics to save money or just simply to suit their customers needs. Our customers, you, need the best and the best is what we offer.

Here are some of the teams we've done sublimated jersey for.

The Journey

Our journey began in Bradford, Ontario for our Across The Prairies Tour. First stop: Sault Ste. Marie. Our goal was to be there around dinner time but as it happened we arrived at 3:30am the next day....getting packed took a smidge longer then anticipated.

Monster Muffin's Zombie Dept. truck loaded and ready to go!

Canada is SO beautiful.

The Navigator.
Just outside of Thunder Bay we blew a whole right through the turbo boot....I'm pretty sure that's what it is, Antoine will probably correct me later. But anyways here's a pic of him under the truck on the side of the highway pulling it out for some good old fashion' duct tape repairs!

Fixen' er up.

Duct Tape: will get you over 500km when you need to!

We stopped in EVERY town looking for a replacement part and even came close a couple of times but ended up having to limp it on into Winnipeg....not bad though, over 500km on duct tape! The next morning we rolled into Cummins and the guys there were absolutely fantastic. They phoned up all their contacts and eventually found a guy (on a Saturday) who not only had one but was willing to drive 45min into town to deliver it. I'm telling you, all these guys were the best!

Our Hero's at Cummins, Winnipeg.

We lost a bit of time so we had to rip on through straight to Alberta. Everyone told me how flat the prairies are but it's a totally different feeling when your there to experience it. You can see as far as the horizon in every direction...it's crazy but beautiful.

Sooooo flat it goes on forever..........
So now we're here on Alberta. We're meeting up with a few stores and going to vend at a roller derby bout in Red Deer on Saturday. Will post more pictures and stories soon....hopefully no more that include a brake down!

Monster Muffin Tours The Prairies

That's right! We're about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! Next week, we're jumping in the truck, loading it full of derby shorts and setting our sails for Alberta.

We were planning our route the other night and I know Canada is big, but when you really start to count the hours and measure the kilometers you reeeeally get an idea as to just how big our country is!
One of many buttons we'll be bringing with us.

So heres the deal, we want to stop and say hi to some super awesome Canadian roller debry teams and derby stores but unless we want to be on the road for a month we have to limit our stops. Now we're driving there and back so there's two opportunities to catch us on the way by, I've outlined a rough schedule below...I say rough becasue you never know what can happen on the road.....so if you'd like us to stop by your hometown of derby awesomeness let us know and we'll see what we can do!

Wednesday Aug 15th jump in the truck and go! Landing us in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario for the night.
Thursday Aug 16th make our way to Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Friday Aug 17th scoot on over to Winnipeg, Manitoba
Saturday Aug 18th enjoy the day in Winnipeg and do a little snoopin around
Sunday Aug 19th make our way to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Monday Aug 20th drive on up to Edmonton Alberta!!

Once in Alberta we'll be visiting some teams and of course the wonderful Mezmerize Derby Wear and Bad Girlfriend Skates, two amazing derby stores that carry our derby shorts.

Derby Shorts For Everyone!!!

So there you have it ladies and gents, you now know where and when we'll be. So, if your team is interested in having Monster Muffin set up at a bout or just to stop in and say hi let us know...first come first serve!

Derby Love,
Miss Muffin

PS Our stops for on the way back are yet to be determined so stay tuned!

Oh My Goodness!
Where has time gone?! SO much had happened since our last blog.....ok where to start.
Well as most of you already know, about two weeks ago we launched our very first Roller Derby Team Uniforms Catalogue which has been going fantastically. Teams form across Canada have been contacting us and we're suuuper excited! If you're just hearing about this now feel free to email us and we'll send you a copy (info@monstermuffin.com) We're in the midst of getting in on our website but since each order is customized and unique we're working on a way to get it on there organized and easy to view. But for you our loyal blog readers we have posted a few images to drool over....
The Graveyard (team uniform)
Racer (team uniform)

Our very first derby girls to wear our team uniforms:
Coyote Convict and Hash'em Slash'em
Onto to some other news we just got back this weekend form an amazing derby tournament in Sarnia called The Roller Derby Spring Clean Up hosted by The Crude Oil Crushers. It was an amazing event full of bad ass fun loving derby girls and supporters! I believe they’re going to turn this into a yearly event and I highly recommend making it out to next year's show. To everyone who came out "Thanks for being so amazing!!"

Oh Oh! And in other news...this isn't even on our website either...yet...Monster Muffin is an official sponsor of TORD (Toronto Roller Derby) We very excited to be able to support these ladies and we look forward to being at all the events to meet everyone.

I think that's about it, if I make these blogs too long anyways I'm pretty sure half of you won't read them....I know I wouldn't ;) Short sweet and simple is where it's at!

Roller Derby World Cup 2011

Check out all our Derby Shorts!

As many of you already know Monster Muffin was at Blood and Thunder's Roller Derby World Cup this weekend with the ever awesome Rumbling Rage Derby Shop. It was an AMAZING event full of suuuper friendly skaters, supporters and other vendors. Everyone was smiling and just so freaking awesome. I don't think I've ever done event where everyone was just so damn nice. I've also never done an event with so many injured people limping around ;) But I tell you these girls are tough. The hits they take and then get right back up as if nothing happened...omg it was totally bad ass to say the least.
Some sexy ladies trying em' on.

What some of you may not know, as popular as roller derby is, this was the first EVER World Cup so it's a pretty big deal. Teams from all over the world came to Toronto Canada to bout against the best of the best, and man did they give it their all.

Team Canada!!!

Team Canada was amazing and we are so very very proud of them. In the end team USA placed gold, Canada silver and England Bronze.

So here’s a big "Thank You" to TORD (Toronto Roller Derby) for hosting the event, to all the teams who came and to their friends and families and to everyone else out there who helped, hosted and supported.

"Canadian Warm" Winter Coat

So I've made quite a few one of a kind winter coats and I have yet another to add to the list of awesomeness. This one was made for Mirella of Toronto, Ontario. Together we designed this fabulous piece: fully lined with thinsulate, outer layer water repellant cotton polyester blend with a thick warm skull swirl printed lining. This coat is truly magical <3

So if you're looking for a Canadian Made-Canadian Warm winter coat you know who to call :)
